Conversions and contrast verdicts produced by ColrShift are informational. They follow standard published formulas (sRGB channel math, the WCAG 2.1 relative-luminance definition, the common RGB→CMYK ink model), but no automated tool can certify a print proof or a legal accessibility audit. If a number from this Service will appear in a contract, compliance filing or press-ready artwork, verify it with the responsible professional first.

CMYK is a guide, not a press profile

RGB→CMYK conversion on this site uses the standard naive ink model. Real print production uses device profiles (FOGRA, SWOP, Pantone) that shift values materially. Treat the CMYK output as a starting point for a conversation with your print shop, never as press-ready separations.

Rounding and edge cases

HSL and CMYK results are rounded for display; small differences (±1 per channel) versus other tools are normal, not errors. Unusual inputs — 4-digit or 8-digit hex with alpha, negative hue angles, percentages without signs — are normalized where possible and may differ slightly from other apps' handling.
